Our aims

The Australian Community Workers Association exists to assist members to promote social justice with professional, cooperative and compassionate services, particularly for disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals, families, groups and communities.

We aim to:

• promote excellent education and training provision for persons engaged, in or desirous of undertaking, work within the community sector.

• identify, document and assess standards of knowledge, training, conduct and experience required for the high quality demonstration of ethics and practice of welfare and community work.

• uphold the rights and improve, protect and foster the interests of its members.

• liaise with appropriate professional, government and industry bodies to improve the pay and conditions for workers the community sector.

• influence social change where inconsistencies, deficiencies and injustices appear in society.
