Assessment Timeframes

After receipt of a completed application, processing will take approximately 8-10 weeks. Once we receive your application, we will process your payment and send you an acknowledgement letter with a reference number. You should receive your acknowledgement letter within 5-10 working days from when you submit your completed application.

Please note: if more information is required to process your application, it may take longer to process. Please ensure your application is complete before sending it to us.

Additional evidence

  • Diploma (or Letter of Completion) from your education institution showing start date and actual date of when you were deemed to have completed the requirements of the course
  • transcription of results
  • letter from your education institution showing details of field placements (as requested in section 15 of the application form)
  • reflection report of at least 1,000 words from each field placement showing tasks and relation to the roles/responsibilities of a Welfare Worker
  • Diploma (or Letter of Completion) and transcript of results for any other higher education qualification from Australia or overseas for consideration in your application
  • marriage certificate or other evidence of change of name (if applicable)
  • authorisation of agent (if submitting application via an agent)
  • English language requirements (see below)

NOTE: If you apply and you do not meet the English language requirement, your application will be rejected and your application fee will not be refunded.

The following is the English language requirement for assessment as a Welfare Worker (ASCO 2512-11 or ANZSCO 272613) from 1 January 2010.

You must provide the following evidence of your English language proficiency, unless the Exemption or Transitional arrangements apply to you (see below).

Certified copies of IELTS test reports showing:

  • at least a 7.0 score for each IELTS language component (reading, writing, speaking and listening) obtained at any test session within a period of 12 months (valid for two years after completion).

English Language Requirements – Both Academic and General IELTS to be accepted

ACWA will continue to accept for the purposes of skills assessment both Academic and General Test Scores beyond Feb 2012. This decision has been endorsed by ACWA’s Education Committee.

Transitional arrangements

You do not need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency if you signed an agreement before 31 July 2008 to study an ACWA approved course. If this applies to you, please provide a certified copy of your letter of offer, confirmation of enrolment (COE) or receipt of monies paid with your application.

Exemption

You do not need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency if:

  • you are a citizen of Australia, United Kingdom, Ireland, United States of America, Canada or New Zealand (same as countries approved for DIAC English language requirements)

You will need to provide a certified copy of the bio page of your Passport.
