FAQs: Provisional Assessment Model

Q1. What is the Provisional Skills Assessment Model?

Answer:

The provisional Skills Assessment Model is aimed at applicants looking at applying for a Skilled Graduated Temporary visa (subclass 485). The details of this visa are available at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website.

The Provisional Skills Assessment model is looking at providing applicants with a provisional assessment on the basis of a current minimum IELTS score (General or Academic) of 6 in each band. The test results need to be valid and be obtained in a single test before applying for skills assessment.

The applicants will still need to meet other current assessment requirements for a skills assessment for General Skilled Migration (GSM) purposes. These include having completed an ACWA approved qualification and met ACWA Fieldwork Requirements. The provisional model will allow applicants seeking work in the welfare sector on temporary visa to gain skilled work experience and improve their English Language Skills.

Q2. Do I still need to get a full Skills Assessment from ACWA?

Answer:

A provisional assessment is only valid for 18 months and can only be used to apply for a 485 Visa. If an applicant wants to apply for permanent residency then a full skills assessment will need to be obtained from ACWA. An applicant may apply for a full skills assessment at any point as long they meet the requirements for a Full Skills Assessment for GSM purposes.

Q3.  When does the Provisional Skills Assessment Model come into effect?

Answer:

The Provisional Skills Assessment Model is now in effect. In order to apply please download Form 1182 Information Pack and Form1182.
