Educators

High-quality education and training underpins high-quality, accessible, service provision for individuals, families, groups and communities.

A long history

Since the 1970's the Australian Community Workers Association has played a major role in the establishment of formalised training for welfare and community workers and is nationally authorised as the recognition body for courses designed to meet the specific training and education needs of workers, volunteers and students in the community services sector.

Forty years later, we are building on our history, investing in our organisation and in the community sector in Australia to ensure disadvantaged individuals, families, groups and communities have access to skilled, professional, ethical and inspirational community workers.

Changes to assessments

We have new assessment staff and are reviewing our assessment policies to reduce the burden of information provision for RTO's and universities. We are also reviewing our processes to align our assessment approaches with those of regulatory authorities around Australia.

We have also recently reviewed our field placement requirements and will rigorously assess the range and quality of community sector experience offered to students via their field work placements.

RTO's and universities are not legally required to gain course approval with ACWA. We acknowledge the commitment by ACWA approved campuses to ensuring quality outcomes for students and the sector as a whole.
