Assessment of overseas and Australian qualifications for non-residents of Australia

To be assessed as a welfare worker applicants require an English language proficiency of at least a 7.0 in each IELTS band (Read how to apply for more information).

Assessments can only be conducted following the submission of a correctly completed application Form 1182, with all required documents and fee.

When ACWA receives your completed application you will be sent a written confirmation within 5 to 7 working days. Please do not make enquiries for a Reference Number until at least 14 days have elapsed from the time you actually posted your application. Assessments cannot be given by phone or email.

Please read the Form 1182 Information Pack and the Application Form 1182 very carefully so that you know what information and documents you need to provide.  If you submit an incomplete application your documents will be returned to you.

Assessment Timeframes

After receipt of a completed application, processing will take approximately 8-10 weeks. Once we receive your application, we will process your payment and send you an acknowledgement letter with a reference number. You should receive your acknowledgement letter within 5-10 working days from when you submit your completed application.

Please note: if more information is required to process your application, it may take longer to process. Please ensure your application is complete before sending it to us.

ANZSCO Skills Assessment Certificate

If after 1 July 2010 you have received a skills assessment certificate from ACWA and your certificate shows 'ASCO 2512–11 — SUITABLE' or if your certificate shows 'ASCO 2512–11 — SUITABLE' and 'ANZSCO 272613 — NOT SUITABLE' beside 'Occupation', and you would like an ANZSCO Suitable certificate, please complete the Request for ANZSCO Skills Assessment Certificate Form and, with the certificate we originally sent to you, post to ACWA. Unfortunately we will not be able to issue a new certificate until we have received your original certificate.
