An update on fieldwork placements

ACWA Inc - Tuesday, April 14, 2020

We have had a number of enquiries from students in ACWA accredited courses who are concerned about the impact of COVID-19 on their ability to meet the fieldwork requirements.

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment is liaising with industry representatives, including ACWA, on this issue to ensure that disadvantage to students is minimised and the standard of education maintained.

ACWA has now introduced flexible course delivery arrangements for providers of accredited courses. We believe these arrangements are fair and responsive but also guarantee students still receive the best possible education under the circumstances.

Read ACWA’s flexible course delivery arrangements. The arrangements will be reviewed at the end of three months.

DHHS paid job opportunity

In related news, the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has a number of paid job opportunities for students enrolled in ACWA accredited courses who wish to support people affected by COVID-19. This experience can also be counted towards fieldwork requirements.

DHHS is recruiting interested students to make welfare calls to people quarantined in hotels. Students will ask those in isolation questions regarding how they are feeling, whether they need any assistance, if they need to see a doctor, and mental health related questions. All students will be well supported.

Students will be based at 50 Lonsdale St, Melbourne where social distancing and strict cleaning regimes are in place. Please contact your course coordinator for more information, including the salary level. Good luck and stay safe.
