#Tweet @ Post (Txt) #Tweet!
The above line is not a typo and don’t believe your spell check if it says it is. If ‘.com’ was a challenge for some people in the 1990’s then ‘#Tweets’ pose a similar issue for generation 2012. When I say generation 2012 I am not referring to the Pod people (iPad generation). I am referring to everyday people like us who can’t tell their tweet ‘T’ apart from their tea ‘T’.
The modern day worker now has to learn to be an e-worker. Whether you are a return-to-work mom or a mature age student there are no excuses. Your daily lunchbox should include a healthy serve of tweeting or blogging. For those with a sweet tooth a scoop of Facebook or MySpace should suffice.
So where do you get started? Well there is no one solution that fits all. Some people prefer to do it the hard way by buying self-help books. I urge you to spare yourself the pain and money. Here are some easy steps to create your own e-AVATAR:
- Approach your nearest Pod person (a friend, a colleague, a child or a partner who is addicted to their iPad, iPod etc.)
- A Pod person speaks the Pod language. Use words like Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook to get his or her attention.
- Urge the Pod person to help you set up your Facebook/Twitter profile. Remember Pod people are always looking for an opportunity to show off their iskills. So the Pod person will be more than willing to help you.
- Once your profile is active ask the Pod person on common functionalities of the application, for example, how to write a Facebook post or how to tweet?
- Don’t forget to learn how to delete stuff. If you are a novice like me, chances are that you may tweet or post something that you shouldn’t have.
- Thank the Pod person for his or her time. You may wish to add them to your online friend list! • LASTLY – there is no time like the present to jump on board. So start tweeting, posting etc. Remember you can only learn if you try.
Someone famous (well almost famous) said ‘You are what you eat’. Times have changed now - you are what you tweet!
So in the spirit of all things digital, I leave you with
#Tweet @ Post (Txt) #Tweet!
