Tools for Hard Conversations - Foundations

This ACWA endorsed CPD activity is conducted by Tools for Hard Conversations Pty Ltd.
Do you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to have conversations about difficult topics (conflict, challenging subjects, interpersonal issues etc)?

Do you feel pressure to come up with all the answers and feel like you are doing all the work?

Do you aspire to have conversations that enable the person you are talking with to reflect and make decisions and actions about their own life?

This practical training explores the foundations of non-diagnostic, capacity building approaches to assisting people through difficult experiences and changes.

It offers theory, skills and tools taken from Narrative, Appreciative Enquiry, Solution Focused and Strengths Based approaches to practice which position people as the experts in their own lives.

This 2 day training will have participants walking away with tools, skills and knowledge in how to have conversations with people in ways that enable them to identify their own hopes, beliefs and values, and in doing so come up with their own solutions to problems.

At the completion of the 2 day (14 hour) training, participants will:
  • Have a sound understanding of the key concepts, principles and application of the theory underpinning post-structuralist approaches to having conversations;
  • Learn how use a tangible conversation map;
  • Be able to use certain tools to guide and help document a difficult conversation;
This training experience will have participants workshopping ideas of their own as well as learning new concepts in a relaxed, supportive environment.
